This is a tough one. Arsenal, are highly motivated to win “something” in an otherwise dismal season. Arsene Wenger’s survival at Arsenal may also depend on it. Thus the “hunger” factor plays for Arsenal. Chelsea may still be hungover from celebrating the EPL championship in one of their best seasons ever. Only complacency can beat Chelsea on Saturday as on paper it is by far the better team. Antonio Conte recognizes the “complacency” factor and his leadership will be tested to see if he can bring the best out of his players.
Statistical history is of little help. All time meeting between the two since the “beginning of time” favor Arsenal 73 to Chelsea 62. But the last 20 meetings between the two since 2009, Chelsea holds the edge 13 to 4 (draws not included) More recently in the last 10 matches since 2013 Chelsea’s edge is 6 to 2. In their last encounter on 4 February 2017, Chelsea beat Arsenal 3–1. Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fàbregas scored Chelsea’s third goal.
So what do you make out of it? A draw will be cop out. FootieXI predicts:
Chelsea to win 2:1 (possibly in OT).
